1st Amendment Censorship in Georgia

Filed under: News & Politics — Dr. Zaius @ 1:11 pm

The Regular Guys fired in Georgia

From Larry Wach’s website:

As you may have heard, The Regular Guys Show has been terminated once again by Clear Channel Radio. In the past week, my partner, Eric Von Haessler, and I have been silent during a paid suspension while we awaited the results of a company investigation into a minor incident that has since snowballed into something that now demands a public response due to the fact that the principals on the other side are attempting to distort the facts and smear my reputation as a citizen and broadcaster and, in the short term, withhold my income without review or discussion with us.

All of this current mess took root, to my knowledge, in March, when the first national Hispanic illegal alien protests were taking place. We were doing our show in Orlando, from Braves spring training. Listeners started calling us on the air to get our opinion of the boycotts that were going on throughout the metro area and in other major cities across America. As the calls increased in volume, it became the only topic that day as it was on many talk shows across the country.

At one point in the show, we asked a producer to go down the hall and invite Yogi and Panda from Viva 105.7, also owned by Clear Channel, on the air to discuss the issue since some listeners had told us that they were exhorting their audience to boycott and take the day off. They agreed to come on and were ushered into our studio with our board operator, and we had a spirited discussion on the air.

In subsequent days, they complained to local Clear Channel management that they had been “disrespected” and that we should be lectured and punished for being in disagreement and making humorous comments about their point of view, all of which occurred exclusively on the air. Clear Channel management told them on more than one occasion that the opinions we express on the air are fair game, as are theirs, and protected not only by CC company policy, but also the 1st Amendment, and that if they didn’t want to look bad on the air, perhaps they shouldn’t agree to come on our show in the future. Nonetheless, the complaints continued unbeknownst to me through the year.

Fast forward to two weeks ago.

I was in the restroom down the hall from our studios after our broadcast was over on October 9, 2006. I carry a voice recorder on me and had it out to make some notes for a show meeting five minutes hence. Into the restroom walked Mr. Tapia and Mr. Carias who passed me at the urinal and headed for the two stalls in the corner. It’s a small restroom and there is no way they could not have seen me, further evidenced by the recording of them yelling insults at me from behind the stall doors which proves they knew I was there, knew I was recording, blowing up their claims of expectation of privacy, and that they still had an axe to grind about my on air opinions going back 7 months. They refused to talk to me like men. They chose to go into the bathroom stall and shout epithets in Spanish, not knowing I understand enough to know they were insulting me. Never have I engaged them in anymore than a simple wave hello off the air in the entire time we both worked there. In addition, the company has approved similar bits like this in the past.

This sparked another round of complaints to the company, who offered reasonable solutions to satisfy their ongoing and baseless grievances, but, insisting it was about the “honor of their culture,” Mr. Tapia and Mr. Carias went ahead and filed the criminal charge in Fulton County Magistrate Court against me and then filed civil complaints in Superior Court of Fulton County, GA against the company for “negligent hiring” and harassment and invasion of privacy chargess against me personally, omitting in the affidavit the salient fact that all remarks made about them and immigration were on the air, never off the air.

I have been more than willing, at the company’s request, to agree in writing not to even so much as speak of Yogi and Panda on the air going forward, for the sake of company harmony, and clear up any misconceptions they have about my opinion of them personally, which was on the favorable side, since they serve their audience well and deliver good ratings numbers and revenue.

A case of a humorous prank has turned into a culture clash, a suppression of 1st Amendment rights, and a ridiculous smear campaign against me as well as termination of my income without due process.

This outrageous attempt at stomping their 1st Amendment rights needs to be investigated and stopped ! Where are the ACLU on this ? I thought they were supposed to be RIGHT THERE when it comes to “free speech rights” ? Spread the word to everyone you know. The line must be drawn HERE !

The Real Story: Iraq

Filed under: News & Politics, World War III — Dr. Zaius @ 5:01 pm

Tired of the mainstream media’s obsession with everything bad in Iraq? You’re not alone. There once was a time when you heard about the GOOD things that happened in wartime, not just the bad. Not anymore. It doesn’t fit the media’s agenda. Neal Boortz once pointed out that if the news was bad for George Bush, the media would run run run it, and if the news was good for George Bush, it would be buried. This axiom comes true every day. Now, thankfully, Glenn Beck has decided to take matters into his own hands to get out the good news in Iraq. You owe it to yourself to watch this and be educated.

Muslim woman loses lawsuit

Filed under: Religion/Politics, World War III — Dr. Zaius @ 2:14 pm

Source: TBO.com – News From The Associated Press

A judge dismissed a small-claims court case filed by a Muslim woman after she refused to remove her veil when she testified.

Ginnnah Muhammad, 42, wore a niqab – a scarf and veil that cover her head and face, leaving only the eyes visible – during a court hearing this month in Hamtramck, a city surrounded by Detroit. She was contesting a $2,750 charge from a rental-car company.

District Judge Paul Paruk told her he needed to see her face to judge her truthfulness and gave her a choice: take off the veil while testifying or have the case dismissed. She kept it on.

“I just feel so sad,” Muhammad told the Detroit Free Press for Sundays edition. “… I didnt feel like the court recognized me as a person that needed justice. I just feel I cant trust the court.”

Hate to put it to you, sister, but since 9/11, alot of folks don’t trust Muslims either. Odd that she doesn’t feel “recognized…as a person” because she wanted to wear a veil that KEEPS her from being recognized. Oh the irony! And what the heck did she do to the car that she had a $2,750 charge anyway ?!?! Inquiring minds want to know. I’m sure you’re wondering why I categorized this as “World War III” as well as “Religion”….well….

Dawud Walid, executive director of the Michigan branch of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said the judge violated Muhammad’s civil rights.

There ya go. The domestic terror sympatizing organization known as CAIR. As soon as they stick their noses into a situation, my bullshit indicator goes off just as surely as if it were that other terror sympathizing group: The ACLU. Suck it chick. Take off the veil or pay the charge. Your choice.

Poster Girl gets it

Filed under: World War III — Dr. Zaius @ 11:54 pm

Beccy Cole is a country music singer from Down Under. She went to perform for the troops in Iraq earlier this year and came home a changed woman. The result is the video below. Let’s just say that I know alot of Americans who would love to trade her to the Aussies for the Dixie Chicks and a first-round draft pick for the next 5 years. She gets it. Why the troops are over there, how brave and courageous they are, that they need our support more than anything else. I love it.

Choosing whom you work for

I’m a little confused by this story. It started out simply enough. A gay couple were soliciting bids for a landscaping project and asked The Garden Guy (Todd and Sabrina Farber) for a quote. However upon discovering that the potential clients were gay, Sabrina politely turned them down with the following email:

Subject: Cancel Appt – Garden Guy

Dear Mr. Lord,

I am appreciative of your time on the phone today and glad you contacted us. I need to tell you that we cannot meet with you because we choose not to work for homosexuals.

Best of luck in finding someone else to fill your landscaping needs.

All my best,

Sabrina

Todd and Sabrina Farber
Owners, Garden Guy, Inc.

Now, that seems fairly straight-forward to me. Is it fair? Who’s to say, since they ARE the owners of their business. But now the gay couple have kicked things up a notch by forwarding it on to “about 200″ of his friends, sparking an outcry against the Farbers as (you’ve heard this before) “hateful”, “homophobes”, “mean-spirited”, etc. I’m trying to understand what the big deal is all about. The gay man ADMITTED that he had plenty of other places that he could have gotten bids from. So this place doesn’t want to do business with him…chalk it up however you want and move on. I realize that’s not the “politically correct” way to look at this, but I believe that if you own a business, you should be able to run it the way YOU want to run it, without having to compromise your beliefs or morals.

On the Garden Guy’s website, it’s says in plain English:

The God-ordained institution of marriage is under attack in courts across the nation, and your help is needed.
Go to: www.nogaymarriage.com to take action.

If Mr. Lord had taken the time to read that “About” page, he’d have gotten a clue. Unless he did and chose to pursue the quote anyway. Things that make ya go “hmm”…

Enough already!

Filed under: News & Politics — Dr. Zaius @ 9:22 am

Is it just me or does anyone else think the media has done a fine job of keeping the Mark Foley story alive WEEKS longer than it deserved ? Let’s review, shall we ?

Sept 29th: Foley resigns. Says he’s sorry. Claims he was molested as a youngster by a priest (why not? works for others!)
Sept 29th: ABC posts copies of instant messages between Foley and pages
Oct 1st: The FBI opens a preliminary investigation of Foley
Oct 2nd: GASP! Republicans KNEW about Foley’s behavior LAST YEAR
Oct 4th: A “top GOP staffer” is released for his role in the scandal (whatever that means)
Oct 5th: 3 MORE former pages accuse Foley of Net Sex
Oct 11th: Woo hoo! It’s been DAYS since anything titilating! Now we hear about ANOTHER instance of Foley trying to get a little sumpin’ sumpin’
Oct 16th: Leftist lawyer gets only 28 months for helping terrorists. Huge story, but not about Foley. Media yawns.
Oct 18th: FBI can’t find any evidence of actual sexual contact between Foley and the then-underage boys. Hmm. Media-fueled scandal? Time to look somewhere else?
Oct 19th: Foley’s priest details their relationship. Aha! Another angle for the media!

Since there are currently 2 and a half weeks to go before Election Day, you can be sure that the media is going to keep this story alive as long as possible. It’s been 3 weeks now (and counting) for a story about a Congressman who had Net Sex with underage pages, then waited until they were 18 to try and have real sex with them. Disgusting, to be sure. But really…3 weeks (and counting) ?!? What is the media’s agenda here? Meanwhile, DEMOCRAT Senator Harry Reid gets a nice $1 million profit and the media, once again, yawns. Is it because he’s a Democrat? Hmm.

Where was the media’s 24/7 obsession with those “poor, young pages” when Garry Studds actually HAD SEX with an underage page in 1983 ?

I think what Mark Foley AND Garry Studds did was obscene and disgusting. I’m glad Foley “did the right thing” and resigned. Too bad Studds didn’t, but that’s now ancient history. I’m just sick and tired of hearing about Mark Foley day-after-day, week-after-week when the man (1) has resigned, so he’s no longer a member of Congress and (2) is under investigation by the FBI. As for the House leaders, IF they are found to have knowingly kept quiet about Foley’s antics, they should step down…if not from Congress, at least from their leadership positions. BUT so far, it’s not been proven that that was the case. So far, it’s just an accusation. Last time I checked, we DO still have due process here in the good ol’ U S of A. I just wish we had an even-handed media to go with it.

Hello world!

Welcome to my new blog. I tend to lean towards the conservative end of the political spectrum (United States) and will be posting my viewpoints from that angle. I am not thrilled with the Republican Party, but they are certainly better than the alternative.
